48. Karl Strauss Brewery
Now with this brewery we found lots of good things being said about it thanks to google and it was just around the corner from our hotel so dropping in on the way home from the other pubs was a bit of a no brainer. Here they had ten different beers on tap, all of their own making. We were already at the end of the night so we started with the Tower 10 IPA which was a nice enough beer for sure, it had a respectable 70 ibus but certainly wasn’t over the top enough to excite me in any great way. The next beer on the list to be ordered was the Big Barrel double IPA, now that is a hellova beer and definitely the one that we should have started with. It had the big bittery fresh hop flavour while still retaining good balance, this was certainly one of my favourite beers of the tour so far. There were Growlers at every table and scattered all around any spare ledge throughout the room, I so would have loved to been able to take a few back with me, full of the good stuff of course. If we had been there the next night they were pouring a selected beer out of a cask, now that also interests me greatly. It is apparently something they do weekly so if you get a chance definitely check them out and I recommend trying to arrange it so it is on a cask night. Cheers
